Award for Teaching. The Dean of the College of Science, The
University of Texas at El Paso handed this prestigious award

selected as the Top Hottest Articles in the Journals of Environmental

The group of Dr. Gardea is very happy since he has just been
appointed to the Editorial Advisory Board of the most
prestigious journal
in the world in the field of environmental science, "
Environmental Science and Technology". He will start serving
in the Editorial Board on September, 2006.
Congratulations to him for this great achievement; he
deserves this since he works very hard.
A grant for the first time from a mining company,
Phelps Dodge Corporation, has been awarded to Dr. Gardea
to carry out
a project called, "Screening
the metal uptake capacity of plant species growing at the
Miami tailings reclamation project: Evaluating soil to plant
elemental ratios."

Gardea-Torresdey´s latest grant-$530,000 has been awarded
from the STAR program of the University of Texas System and our group
has a brand new Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma
Mass Spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) [more..]
Dr.
Gardea-Torresdey and his colleagues, Drs Zubia (PI),
Chianelli, Murr, and McClure have just been awarded a grant
($570,500) from The National Science Foundation to acquire a
brand new Scanning Electron Microscope.
